Date & Location
Monday, July 6, 2026, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA

Overview
This educational activity uses a published New England Journal of Medicine “Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital” (Problem-Solving Case) as the foundation for a team-based, interactive learning experience. Participants function collectively as the admitting and primary care clinical team and work through the case in real time, mirroring the clinical decision-making process from initial presentation through diagnostic resolution. This is the Process the team decided: 1. Choose a Problem Solving Case from the NEJM or from any other resource if discovered. 2. E-mail the Team a one line which includes the Chief Complaint/reason. This e-mail will be sent as soon as possible before each session.  3. During the session we will brainstorm and discuss the case together as a group. Each step will be essentially like a H&P/SOAP note. 4. While going through the process we will follow along with the article to see if we have missed anything or if we have further questions. 5. The final diagnosis will only be revealed at the end of the session, which is also the flow of these types of reports/articles.

Objective(s): 1 Apply foundational medical knowledge in clinical scenarios that are encountered infrequently in routine practice 2 Integrate core pathophysiologic principles into the evaluation and management of increasingly complex inpatient presentations. 3 Identify any new or different diagnostic formats/technologies
