2025 Shock ECMO Series

The purpose of this activity is to promote interactive presentations by experts in the fi eld and provide evidence based clinical practice updates for temporary mechanical circulatory support. The series aims to educate Sentara providers with clinically relevant information with an emphasis on diagnosis, management and complications associated with the respiratory and cardiogenic shock patient. Morbidity and mortality discussions off er detailed insight into complicated clinical courses to identify opportunities for improvement from perioperative and systems perspectives.

1. Discuss evidence-based management strategies for patients undergoing temporary mechanical circulatory support.
2. Evaluate appropriate treatment strategies for patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
3. Review common complications of different mechanical therapies within the hospitalization of the shock patient.
4. Review the pathological spectrum of respiratory and cardiogenic shock.
