Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss evidence-based management strategies for patients undergoing temporary mechanical circulatory support.
  2. Evaluate appropriate treatment strategies for patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
  3. Review common complications of different mechanical therapies within the hospitalization of the shock patient.
  4. Review the pathological spectrum of respiratory and cardiogenic shock.
